Season of Creation 2025

The theme for the Season of Creation 2025 is "Peace with Creation," rooted in Isaiah 32:14-18, emphasizing the need for justice and restoration in our relationship with the Earth.

Overview of the Theme

The Season of Creation is celebrated from September 1 to October 4, and in 2025, the theme is "Peace with Creation." This theme highlights the urgent need for justice and reconciliation between humanity and the environment, reflecting on the biblical text from Isaiah 32:14-18. The passage describes a world suffering from human injustice and the resulting desolation of creation, calling for a restoration of peace and harmony.

Here is the text of Isaiah 32:14-18. The Peace of God’s Reign

Because the palaces will be forsaken, The bustling city will be deserted. The forts and towers will become lairs forever, A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks—

Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.

Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness remain in the fruitful field. The work of righteousness will be peace,And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

Christians all over the world will celebrate the Season of Creation, as well as the Day of Creation on 1 September (a World Day of Prayer).

The symbol for the 2025 Season of Creation is on the right showing the Garden of Peace, featuring a dove carrying an olive branch. This imagery draws from the biblical story of Noah, where the dove signifies hope and renewal after the flood, representing the promise of a peaceful and restored creation.

By embracing the theme of "Peace with Creation," participants are called to be active agents of change, fostering a deeper connection with the Earth and advocating for justice and peace in all creation.

As a Live Simply parish , every parishioner, young or old, male of female, busy or not busy, should always be finding ways of living simply. Two good ways would be :

  • to support the events that are being planned in our parish to celebrate the Season of Creation. There may be other events announced later. The Laudato Si Circle are organising the events and if anyone wants to help them, please contact Brother David of St Timothy’s or Mike and Cath Glover.

  • or to learn more about creation via various resources. Some resources will help you focus on different aspects of Creation (briefly or at length) each day during the Season of Creation. We realise that many of you have little spare time so we will suggest some simple resources . If you have more time, you can search on Laudato Si websites for more resources and decide for yourself which ones you want to follow.

Here is an online session on Thursday evenings and it lasts 90 minutes. You do have to register of course.

Message of Pope Leo for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation:

Call of Creation from the Bishops of England and Wales

The ‘World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation’, celebrated on 1 September, is the official start of the ‘Season of Creation’, a time of sustained prayer and action which lasts a month and four days. During this season we are encouraged to pray and engage in community events in order to deepen our relationship with God, our neighbour and the earth we share, being ever more attentive to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. This year also marks the ten-year anniversary of Pope Francis’s encyclical on care for creation, Laudato Si. Read more.

If you are a busy person, then you could spend a couple of minutes each day either saying the prayer for the season or you could try some intercessions from CAFOD.

For people who have a little more time on their hands, then we suggest
