Draft Features of St Timothy’s Church

When looking round the church of St Timothy’s, after considering all the beautiful features of St Paul’s, one cannot help thinking of what St James says in his letter 2:1-9.

My brothers and sisters, do not try to combine faith in Jesus Christ, our glorified Lord, with the making of distinctions between classes of people. Now suppose someone comes into your synagogue, beautifully dressed and with a gold ring on, and at the same time a poor person comes in, in shabby clothes, and you take notice of the well-dressed….

Listen, my dear people : it was those who are poor according to the world that God chose, to be rich in faith and to be the heirs to the kingdom which he promised to those who love him.

We have never had a survey to find out which church is preferred by parishioners but there may be a variety of reasons why some prefer St Timothy’s to St Paul’s. One reason could be that it is easier to pray in St Timothy’s since one is less distracted there and it is less noisy than St Paul’s unless the central heating is on… It is possible to see the altar from all areas in the church. Of course, some people deliberately choose to hide behind a pillar in St Paul’s. One good reason for hiding behind a pillar in St Paul’s is to avoid being splashed at the Easter services!

More on actual features later but here is a taster - the beautiful windows at the sides of the sanctuary.
